CJSA Replacement Menus for ARRIS

Over the course of a ten year period using the ARRIS product in a production environment, a number of incremental improvements were made to the system to facilitate ease-of-use and increase user productivity. These modifications culminated in the development of the CJSA Replacement Menus module available for use with the current (version 7.1) release of ARRIS.

This add-on module provides an alternate Graphical User Interface (GUI) which implemented the following features:

• Improved appearance of the menu system, making it much easier to visually scan for information.
  
  
• Increased consistency of the menu system by placing similar objects in the same relative locations and extending partially implemented features uniformly across all menus.
  
  
• Reorganized menu commands to make common functions more readily accessible without having to dig through a series of cascading menus.
  
  
• Merged the ARRIS CAD and Architect modules into one interface, eliminating the need to toggle the main menu to access routine drafting tools. This consolidation also allows a third module to be concurrently active - something that is impossible in the standard system.
  
  
• Provided a new command TOOLBAR with expanded capabilities and an associated database of over 800 predefined ARRIS commands which can be assigned to the TOOLBAR.
  
  
• Significantly increased the customization capabilities of ARRIS, allowing the user to tailor the system to their personal requirements.
  
  
• Provided complete, detailed, on-line help information for all revised menus.
  
  
• Added a set of significant new features and functions documented elsewhere.
  
  
• Fixed numerous bugs and enhanced the existing SIGMAC code.

The CJSA Replacement Menus load and unload like any other ARRIS module, making it easy for individuals to choose how and when to take advantage of its many features.
